Almost every day, grease finds its way into your home. Whether it’s tracked in on shoes or the result of kitchen spills and cooking splatters, the sticky film left behind by greasy residue and grime can be difficult to remove no matter where it ends up. Sometimes, the more you try to remove a sticky, greasy film, the stickier it becomes – gathering more dirt and dust to compound the problem. Water alone can’t get rid of grease because water can’t penetrate grease. And elbow grease isn’t always enough to tackle the greasy gunk found in active households. In today’s Calendar Of Clean post, we asked our customers to tell us their worst “greasy” problems and are providing answers on how to resolve them with SoilMaster – our number one multi-purpose concentrated cleaner.

#1 – Grease & Oil Stains On Clothing

The best way to remove greasy residue or lipstick stains from clothing is to do it before they are washed and dried – once clothes with these types of stains are dried, the stain can become set and be impossible to remove. SoilMaster is a super effective laundry pretreat, especially for grease. Using a dilution spray bottle, mix SoilMaster concentrate with water in a 2:1 or 4:1 ratio. Generously spray the solution directly on the stain. Allow it to remain there for a few minutes or more to begin breaking down the grease. Wash with your regular laundry and then check the stain to be sure it is gone before putting the item in the dryer. For extra stubborn grease stains on clothing, repeat the pre-treat process before drying to remove it completely.

#2 – Greasy, Sticky Film On Counters, Cabinets & Floors

Kitchens are one of the greasiest rooms in your home. Splatters and oily smoke produced while cooking can leave a grimy, greasy residue on your wood cabinets, counters tops and floors. This sticky residue attracts dust and dirt particles that make kitchen surfaces appear dull and dingy. Even worse, the residue will leave your kitchen smelling less than fresh. With the help of SoilMaster – an all-purpose citrus cleaner – you can easily remove the residue and restore the beauty of your wood surfaces. Using a 16:1 dilution ratio, just spray, wipe and rinse. The grease cutting power of SoilMaster will do the work for you.

#3 –Grease & Oil On Concrete Floors

When concrete floors become soiled with grease or oil, you’ll need a professional strength, grease-cutting agent to break it up and remove it entirely from the flooring. Mix SoilMaster concentrate using a 1:1 or 2:1 dilution ratio and generously spray it directly on the stain and surrounding area. Use a stiff bristle scrub brush to agitate the area and help break through the grease and oil. Allow the solution to remain on the stain for a few minutes or more and then wipe away with a dry cloth. For the most difficult grease stains on concrete, you may need to repeat this process several times to remove the stain completely.

#4 – Greasy Kitchen Range Hood Vents

Range hood vents are designed to help cut down excess grease floating around in your kitchen. Using a fan and filters, they remove oily smoke and grease produced while you cook that would otherwise accumulate on your counters, cabinets or floors – so it’s no surprise that greasy residue and odor are a common problem here. Most people just clean the exterior of the range hood, ignoring the interior parts that can become caked with grease. Eventually, the hood vent no longer does its job, smells horrible, and the excess grease is floating around the kitchen again. Using a dilution spray bottle, mix SoilMaster concentrate with water in a 10:1 ratio. Thoroughly spray the solution on all exterior surfaces of the range hood, wipe everything down and then rinse with a wet cloth to remove any residue. Remove the range hood filters and allow them to soak in the SoilMaster solution for 30 minutes to break down the grease and oil. You can also use a flag tip brush or utility brush to help break down extra build up. Then rinse the filters thoroughly using hot water, let them air dry and reinsert them back into the range hood.

#5 – Greasy Tile Grout

Grease, grime, and body oils built up on tile grout can make your floors look dirty and leave them unsanitary. Because grout is soft and porous, reaching and cleaning it requires a heavy duty cleaner that can cut through the layers of grease and remove them completely – that’s the only way to return soiled grout to its original color. Regular detergents and floor cleaners don’t always do the job. Mix SoilMaster concentrate using a 10:1 dilution ratio and generously spray it directly on grout lines. Use a grout brush or utility brush to scrub, penetrate and remove the greasy residue. Wipe away the mess and mop with clean water to rinse.

Greasy residue and build up is unavoidable but removing it doesn’t have to cause pain! Just give SoilMaster a try and you’ll be pleased with the results.
